Lisa's actions
Waste
Skip the Straw
Plastic bags and small plastic pieces like straws are most likely to get swept into our waterways. I will keep 1 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill and ocean each day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.
Health
More Fruits and Veggies
I will eat a heart healthy diet by adding 2 cup(s) of fruits and vegetables each day to achieve at least 4 cups per day.
Waste
Use Reusable Bags
I will not accept any disposable bags when making purchases.
Waste
Use a Reusable Water Bottle
I will keep 3 disposable plastic bottle(s) from entering the waste stream by using a reusable water bottle.
Health
Support Pollution Reduction
I will spend at least 20 minutes learning about water and air quality issues in my area, how they are impacting human and environmental health, and how I can help.

REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Skip the StrawHow could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle?
Lisa Warman 10/24/2018 9:12 AMI reduce by using a re-fillable water bottle, I reuse plastic lunchmeat containers for leftovers, I refuse straws when I eat out, I repurpose the pots my flowers come in as gifts for others. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Use Reusable BagsWhat do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reuseable one with you? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to establish this a successful habit?
Lisa Warman 10/09/2018 11:24 AMWhen I go into the city, I use a backpack in case I buy something, I keep a re-usable bag in my car for shopping, and I often will just carry items rather than taking a bag. If I do take a paper back, I use it to place my recyclable items in and place the paper bag in the recyclable bin. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth More Fruits and VeggiesWhat do you think contributes to people in North America eating more meat than any other places, and what does this say about North American values and ways of living? How can we start shifting from a meat-focused food culture to a more plant-based one?
Lisa Warman 10/09/2018 11:20 AMI believe people consume more meat through fast-food establishments. In North America, people are in a hurry, do not take time to prepare healthy options for themselves or their family, and consumers are led to believe healthy choices cost more.
