Before you started this challenge, did you think you were 'addicted' to sugar? How do you feel now?

I stopped drinking full sugar soda almost 2 years ago and had the good sense not to replace it with diet soda. For the past several months I haven't used any "added" sugar. I'm trying to eat more organic, whole foods now so am buying products without added sugars. The cravings for sugary foods along with the refined carb bloat are gone.

Michael Pollan states that "it is better to pay the grocer (our edit: or the farmer!) than the doctor." What are your thoughts on this?

I totally agree with Pollan that it's better to pay for good food than to pay for disease. If you do any research at all, you quickly realize that our current healthcare system is more concerned with focusing on symptoms than prevention. Thanks to John D. Rockefellar, who started us down the road of profitable petrochemicals, medical schools are churning out physicians who learn how to use patented drugs for symptoms. This is great for Pharma's bottom line but isn't doing the repeat customer much good. Most of the current healthcare issues are ALL lifestyle related and can be prevented or cured by eating healthful foods. The science is out there, if you want to look, that even cancer can be cured with nutrition and not toxic chemicals. So why isn't nutrition the standard treatment? Oh yeah, nature can't be patented.

Can organic farming feed the world? Which side of the argument do you fall on? Why?

Do I think organic farming could feed the world? Yes I do—at least the majority of it.

However, currently there is not enough conventionally grown "real food" available to feed everyone. By "real food" I mean anything that is not processed, so that leaves out the crops (corn, soybeans, wheat, etc.) that are currently grown to feed the world.

It's demand and supply. If more people start eating more real food, then farmers would start growing more real food. Using that same argument, as people demand more organic food, it becomes a more viable farming option. The farmer has to make an honest profit but the consumer has to be able to afford the food. You know, it wasn't all that long ago that all farming was organic. There were no GMOs and GMAs and people were healthier. It's crazy that we now have to search for heirloom produce and animals.
