Joshua's actions
Energy
Adjust the Thermostat
I will adjust my thermostat down 2 degrees from usual when I use the heat, and up 2 degrees when I use air conditioning.
Waste
Choose Two-Sided Printing
I will save up to .21 lbs (.09 kg) of paper each day by switching from one-sided printing to two-sided.
Nature
Forage for My Food
I will use the 'Learn More' resources below to find where I can forage for my own food locally.
Food
Plant an Herb Garden
I will plant an herb garden in my home, workplace, or dorm room.
Nature
Spend Time Outside
I will replace 60 minute(s) each day typically spent inside (computer time, watching television, etc.) with quality time outside.
Health
Happiness
I will write down three things every day that I am grateful for, or send one email every day thanking or praising someone.
Waste
Skip the Straw
Plastic bags and small plastic pieces like straws are most likely to get swept into our waterways. I will keep 1 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill and ocean each day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Choose Two-Sided PrintingChoosing two-sided printing can be an easy adjustment on your computer settings. How can you help others make this same switch? Can it be encouraged company wide?
Joshua Wilson 10/03/2018 12:37 PMWell I chose to have my printer print on both sides of the paper but seems I have to make the choice every time I use the printer. So I will have to make the choice every day, not to hard -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Skip the StrawHow could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle?
Joshua Wilson 10/03/2018 12:33 PMI hardly ever get drinks from a fast food place or anywhere else I normally drink water but I do find myself getting a drink that comes with a meal and it would normally come with a straw. Today I happen to get a meal and since I have my nice hydro flask with some ice cold water in it I asked them to keep the drink I didn’t need it thanks. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth HappinessHow does/can practicing gratitude keep you centered and motivated to work for a better world?
Joshua Wilson 10/03/2018 12:30 PMEvery morning I email/text my wife and let her know how much she means to me and how much I appreciate everything she does for our family. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergy Adjust the ThermostatYour utility company is able to tell you your average energy usage. Ask them how your energy usage compares to others in your zipcode, and in your state. What other steps can you take each day to reduce your electricity usage?
Joshua Wilson 10/03/2018 12:28 PMI just happened to not use my ac unit for a couple weeks now and had my wife set the thermostat to 65 instead of 68. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Plant an Herb GardenConsider the ways you can garden: a plot of land? a patio container? hanging basket? windowsill gardens? What would work best for your living situation and lifestyle?
Joshua Wilson 10/03/2018 12:26 PMI have a raised garden bed next to my fence that gets plenty of sun and is protected from the east wind.
