REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Explore My AreaHow can spending more time outdoors enhance your sense of place?
Megan Zimmerman 10/23/2018 6:38 AMWhile making me more aware of my surroundings, it teaches me to appreciate the beauty in nature. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Meet My Local FarmersWhen you know who produces your food, you are connecting personally to your complex regional food system. What are the advantages of knowing who produces your food and where it comes from? Do you think this might enable someone to advocate for a better quality of life for those who produce their food, both near and far?
Megan Zimmerman 10/22/2018 12:35 PMWith commercial farming, you can easily look over where your food comes from and what practices are taken to put that food in a store. When knowing exactly who produces your food and seeing the exact location, I somehow feel better about what I'm putting into my body. I also like the fact that I'm supporting my neighbors and help them continue to be successful instead of someone I may never put a face to. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Disconnect from EmailNotice how much time you were spending checking email away from work and make note of that. Now that you have stepped away from it and have not been checking, what changes are you noticing in your thoughts, use of time, stress and energy levels?
Megan Zimmerman 10/19/2018 8:16 AMI've noticed that I'm not spending so much time with my eyes glued to a tiny screen. Since smartphones make it so easy to access email at our fingertips instead of going onto an actual computer to check, it's easy to let it consume your time. I've noticed I don't stress about things when I get home from work and I'm able to enjoy my time with my husband and dog more. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Less Screen TimeWhat did you notice in implementing this challenge? Was it hard to choose other activities over screen time? How did you decide to spend your time?
Megan Zimmerman 10/15/2018 7:31 AMBy taking 10 minutes of screen time away, I decided to add those 10 minutes to one of the daily walks or extra playtime in the house with my pup. I noticed that it was easier to accomplish than anticipated. In a time where everyone is connected to their phones, it was nice to put it somewhere and forget about it for a little bit. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth HappinessHow does/can practicing gratitude keep you centered and motivated to work for a better world?
Megan Zimmerman 10/04/2018 9:33 AMit makes you learn to be appreciative for the things around you, the things you have, while realizing not everyone has those same wants or needs and may need a little help.
