I can't believe we are already at the end. I think it was a success, and part of the success is that I am also taking a class from the Northwest Earth Institute, Health and the Environment. The class gave me direction and ideas to complete the challenges. It's my second such class, and I can't wait to take another. This challenge just enriched...

My moment of peace came in Yoga. I actually started "hearing" some chanting voice, which I'm sure didn't come from the music on my instructor's phone.

I'm pretty sure this is only a small start, but that's how change happens, right? I began with my supplements--the one's in plastic bottles. I contacted some of the manufacturers, who cited breakage as their reason for using plastic over glass. They did say that the bottles are BPA-free and recyclable. So something, but I am trying to move to...

But it's not typical. I rode my bike to the gym this morning--lots of sun and beautiful trails but wicked cold. Cold is not my thing, but it gave me this short time of contemplation--what about people who don't have a choice when it's cold? What would I have missed if I'd taken the car? A very thoughtful ride.

Final CSA dinner at Biver Farm tonight. So much good food and friendship. How to be truly wealthy.

All the credit for my calm goes to my Yoga instructor Meredith. I was so down before class. I felt amazing afterwards.

I did learn something new recently, but it seems confusing. The local recycler says to leave plastic caps and lids on bottles instead of removing them before putting them in the recycle bin. I'm not sure I get this--a plastic cap on a glass bottle seems to be mixing materials. I was told the caps are recyclable but too small if added by...

I cannot believe how hard meditation is for me. I always need help. Today after my workout at the gym, I sat in the sauna because it has turned really cold--at least really cold for me. No one was there, so I sat very still and tried to open up my mind to "nothing." Sort of successful, sort of not. But I'm glad I sat still in silence....

I'm working really hard to eliminate single-use paper items, like napkins, paper towels and tissues. I have been very successful with the napkins--haven't bought any since spring, which was a goal of last year's eco-challenge. So feeling good about that. I will be replacing my dish towels and cloths soon--I do this one time per year because I...
