Apples are just perfect right now. So many lovely varieties.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Find Local Recycling Depots
Our ability to recycle certain things ebbs and flows based upon many factors. Luckily there are places that accept uncommon things to recycle or dispose of in a less harmful way. What did you find when looking for places to recycle items that can't be recycled in your curbside bin?

I found a spot nearby to deposit all my cans and bottles that have a deposit on them.  It's so close and i never knew it was there!

Woo hoo, today is the last day!  As much as I enjoy tracking things, I am kind of glad I won't have to do that anymore.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Health Learn More about Food Deserts
What are the implications of access to nutritious food for a community?

I actually had never heard of a food desert before.  If someone doesn't have easy access to a store in their neighborhood they might find it hard to provide for themselves or their family.

I began this challenge to encourage my efforts at mindfulness. I feel like it's helped. I've enjoyed the support of fellow participants and interacted with people I might not have otherwise, so it's been a refreshing infusion. Thanks, everyone, for your kind words and camaraderie!

I took my brother out for his birthday last night: dinner at Outback, haunted house at VMC, and dessert at Pied Cow. It was fun. Haven't done the haunted house thing in over 35 years. It was good for some laughs, a few scares, and I may have blurted out a few obscenities.

I went for a walk today on my lunch to find the Amazon treasure truck but I couldn't find it!  At least I got my walk in though!

The treasure truck is amazing!  If you have Amazon Prime they will let you know what they have that day and how much it costs, usually a pretty big discount.  I have seen lots of things from steaks, to coffee pots, to candy.  And some times they have free stuff.  Usually it moves to a couple locations throughout the day but it tells you the time frame of when it will be there.  Downtown, it's usually in a large parking lot in Old Town.

I have never heard of the Amazon Treasure Truck. Is it filled with overstock or just fun little baubles? Does it have a schedule or just pop up somewhere unannounced? That sounds like FUN!

Nice, but somewhat chilly walk to the film office for a meeting. Sometimes, meetings are good!

Isn't this Autumn the loveliest? I went on an old person's bus tour of the New England fall foliage last year and this reminds me so much of it! I looked around this morning and thought, "This looks so much like New Hampshire!" Then I realized, "No, this looks like Fall in the Willamette Valley. This looks like Oregon!" Our Metro area certainly rivals New England with all of our lovely trees. I'm grateful to each person who planted one.
