BACK TO TEAM PAGE

Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.

To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

October Ecochallenge has been a challenge alright, but also a lot of fun. Hardest part for me is remembering to check in everyday. So happy that I can go back and check off my actions from the days before .

    Water 5-Minute Showers
Five minute showers are an impressive step toward reducing your water footprint. What is the next step you can take?

Most showers can be less than five minutes, if we pay attention.

Wasn't able to fully see the sunrise or sunset due to the rain. Still made me appreciate the rain that came through.

Water Say No to Plastic Straws
What single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?

My family doesn't use straws very often, we mainly use it when we go out to eat. However, I have been meaning to cut them out as best as I can especially since at my work place we advocate not to use them. Recently, I just purchased my first set of reusable straws. I used them at a restaurant where I informed my boyfriend, his cousin, and his date about the challenge and how by reusing a straw i can cut back on the plastic one use ones.

I am grateful towards the sky, the rivers, and the trees. These have been the main natural gifts I keep being drawn towards. I hope to continue to appreciate more.

Looking into buying sustainable foods/drinks when I go shopping. One of the things I already participate in is by looking at the labels on my products. I now am more often to choose foods that are organic, non-gmo's, and certified products on sustainable fishing.

    Food Whole Foods Diet
Michael Pollan states that "it is better to pay the grocer (our edit: or the farmer!) than the doctor." What are your thoughts on this?

I very much agree that it is better to pay the farmer. It means paying less down the line for reactive medical care. I have opted to include bread in the definition of "whole foods" during my daily diet because it perishes and is made of ingredients that are pronounceable and non-synthetic. :)
