Kristin's actions
Nature
Spend Time Outside
I will replace 20 minute(s) each day typically spent inside (computer time, watching television, etc.) with quality time outside.
Simplicity
De-Clutter My Home
I will de-clutter, clean, and donate or recycle unneeded items in my home.
Energy
Choose Clean/Renewable Energy
I will sign up for my utility company's clean/renewable energy option.
Waste
Skip the Straw
Plastic bags and small plastic pieces like straws are most likely to get swept into our waterways. I will keep 1 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill and ocean each day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.
Health
More Fruits and Veggies
I will eat a heart healthy diet by adding 1 cup(s) of fruits and vegetables each day to achieve at least 4 cups per day.
Food
Whole Foods Diet
I will enjoy 2 meal(s) each day free of processed foods.

Kristin Bloser 10/03/2018 8:00 AMMy challenge actually started on the night of October 2nd when my husband and I went out to dinner and I received a water and requested no straw. I have a couple stainless steel straws at home but forgot to bring them so I felt that I shouldn't ask for a plastic straw. Now, I need to remember to carry my reusable straws in my purse from now on. -
Kristin Bloser 10/01/2018 8:41 AMI'm so happy to be getting a solar system installed at my house in (hopefully) the next 2 months. It's in the permitting process now. We decided on a system that will cover approximately 70% of our total annual energy usage (pretty much our average monthly use minus the AC use in the 3 summer months). We will also be able to back up 4 circuit breakers with a battery backup in case of a power outage (we had two 8+ hour and several shorter power outages since moving to our home 4 years ago). We can also use the stored energy daily when the utility prices are the highest. I'm excited to get it installed and operating!
