    Waste Use Reusable Bags
What do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reuseable one with you? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to establish this a successful habit?

I didn't meet this goal, but trying this challenge helped me move in the right direction. I have reusable bags and reusable produce bags that I bring to the grocery store, and I carry a small backpack with me always for smaller purchases. It was the larger purchases where I got stuck. Since I walk a lot, I found myself in instances where I really needed a bag, since I was carrying items long distances. I'd like to get a reusable shopping back that can fold up super small, and keep it in my backpack.

New to composting? Be sure to check out the action resource links to learn tips and more about it. As you transition from throwing food away to composting, what do you notice about how much you are tossing? Do you know how your compost will be used and the benefits it has on the environment?

Composting has been life-changing! I've noticed less garbage in my trash can each week, and I'm excited to use the compost in my gardening adventures.

My thoughts, and what I focus on, create my reality. If I'm focused on gratitude, I am a calmer human being. From this place of calm, I can be more creative, and find positive solutions to any problem.

How do you practice self care?

Self-care has become an important part of my life over the past few years. I make sure to take time for myself, to unwind and relax when I need it, and strive to be healthy each day, but in a culture where "treat yo'self" can easily add to waste culture, I strive to move beyond the physical acts of self care, and focus on the nonphysical aspects. Words have power! I make sure that I am kind to myself. I monitor negative self-talk and correct the course when I need to. I write a lot. I get to know myself. I accept myself, and forgive myself when I mess up. I've found that when I practice these things, I'm a lot less stressed out, and I'm more able to accept, forgive, and not judge other people too.
