Faviola's actions
Health
Take Control
Both system and personal sustainability are important! I will develop a plan with my medical professionals to achieve my best health and live my life to the fullest.
Waste
Use Reusable Bags
I will not accept any disposable bags when making purchases.
Food
Zero-Waste Cooking
I will cook 1 meal(s) with zero-waste each day
Food
Weekly Meal Planning
I will reduce food waste and save money by planning a weekly menu, only buying the ingredients I need.
Waste
Carry my Trash
I will carry all of my unrecyclable, non-compostable trash with me to raise my awareness of how much I send to the landfill.
Waste
Reduce Single-Use Disposables
Historically, marginalized and low-income communities live closer to landfills, contributing to a multitude of health problems. I will find out how I can limit single-use items and do my best to limit the waste I generate.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Carry my TrashWhat one thing could you do right away to reduce your waste?

REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Take ControlHow do environmental health, community health, and your personal health intersect?
Faviola Caldera 11/18/2018 1:15 PMThe healthier choices I make, like buying locally the more healthier choices I see around me. Like the wealth of my community because I am investing in them, and since they use sustainable practices the environment is benefiting from it. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Zero-Waste CookingIn North America, up to 65% of food waste happens at the consumer level. Chef Steven Satterfield advocates for utilizing every part of a vegetable. How can you incorporate using an entire vegetable, including the skins, tops, and stalks during your next meal prep?
Faviola Caldera 11/18/2018 1:06 PMI use the remaining stuff of my juice for example for adding to my dogs' food. Vegetable broth. Aroma infuse with peals and citrus remains. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Weekly Meal PlanningAn average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Does this surprise you? Where would you rather use this money?
Faviola Caldera 11/18/2018 1:05 PMIt doesn't anymore, which is rather sad. I would love to use that money to travel. I am trying to come up with ways of traveling as sustainable as possible in the future. -
