Water
Collect Rain Water
I will create a rain garden or bioswale, or use rain barrels to collect water for outdoor watering needs.
Nature
Go for a Daily Walk
I will take a 20-minute walk outside each day.
Nature
Explore My Area
I will explore at least one new hiking trail or nature walk in my area.
Nature
Support Local Pollinators
At least 30% of crops and 90% of flowering plants rely on pollinators to produce fruit. I will spend 45 minutes researching which plants support local native pollinators and plant some in my yard.
Nature
Do Nature Activities
I will engage in nature-based activities alone, or with my friends or family, for 20 minute(s) each day. (This can be anything from going on a walk or hike, to noticing the leaves changing color, to reading a book with nature themes.)
Health
Go get a check up
I will make an appointment for my annual physical.
Health
Take Control
Both system and personal sustainability are important! I will develop a plan with my medical professionals to achieve my best health and live my life to the fullest.
Health
Happiness
I will write down three things every day that I am grateful for, or send one email every day thanking or praising someone.
Health
Exercise Daily
Exercise is a great stress blaster! I will exercise for 20 minute(s) each day.

Amanda C. 10/10/2018 2:35 PMAfter attending a wedding in Brooklyn last weekend, I made my first trek Upstate and visited Storm King, a "500-acre museum located in New York’s Hudson Valley, where visitors experience large-scale sculpture and site-specific commissions under open sky. Since 1960, Storm King has been dedicated to stewarding the hills, meadows, and forests of its site and surrounding landscape."
There, I experienced the exhibition "Indicators: Artists on Climate Change uses Storm King’s Museum Building and 500-acre site as platforms for seventeen contemporary artists to present work that engages with some of the many challenges—scientific, cultural, personal, psychological—that climate change has brought to humankind."
It was a profoundly moving experience and inspiring, returning home and to my Eco Challenge!
For more information about the exhibition and artists check out the museum's website and this article about the exhibition.
