  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Use Reusable Bags
What do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reuseable one with you? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to establish this a successful habit?

The best thing to do is carry bins and cloth bags in the car at all times, or a compact one in my backpack if I'm on the bus.  If you get to the checkout and you don't have one, just throw everything in the cart and organize at your vehicle!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health Happiness
How does/can practicing gratitude keep you centered and motivated to work for a better world?

There's a lot of negativity in the media etc. It's easy to forget the good things we have in life.  I try to remind myself about this so I can focus on our goals as a family, and to teach my kids values that will help them be compassionate and determined.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Simplicity Needs Vs. Wants
How is creativity necessary for practicing simplicity?

We need to look for creative ways to share, reuse, and just not buy new stuff every day.   My daughter is really good at this She always uses random throwaway items and repurposes them in her art.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health Healthy Sleep
Consider how many hours of sleep you get now. How would you like to shift your sleep patterns? What are you finding works for you to be successful in this action?

Getting up earlier results in earlier to bed.  A good way to unwind earlier is to not eat or use electronic devices into the late evening
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Reduce Animal Products
What do you think contributes to people in North America eating more meat than in other places, and what does this say about North American values and ways of living? How do we start shifting a meat-focused food culture?

Our culture is based heavily in Fast Food for travel, weekend sports etc.  We have a lot of land for raising cattle!
