I will use the resource links provided and spend 120 minutes learning about the native populations that lived in my area prior to colonization, and what I can do to support those that still exist.
Nature
Keep a Nature Journal
I will journal each day about my experiences in nature.
Waste
Find Local Recycling Depots
I will spend at least 15 minutes finding out where to recycle the recyclable items that I can't put in my curbside bin.
Health
Happiness
I will write down three things every day that I am grateful for, or send one email every day thanking or praising someone.
Nature
Do Nature Activities
I will engage in nature-based activities alone, or with my friends or family, for 15 minute(s) each day. (This can be anything from going on a walk or hike, to noticing the leaves changing color, to reading a book with nature themes.)
Food
Whole Foods Diet
I will enjoy 2 meal(s) each day free of processed foods.
Community
Host a House Party
I will host a house party with 2 friends and/or colleagues to watch a movie or present a guest speaker on an environmental issue that matters to me.

Buy From a Farmers Market
I will purchase produce and meat from a local farmers market or food co-op.
Waste
Go Paperless
I will reduce the amount of paper mail that I receive by opting into paperless billing and ending unwanted subscriptions.
Nature
Forage for My Food
I will use the 'Learn More' resources below to find where I can forage for my own food locally.
Simplicity
Track my Purchases
I will spend 10 minutes each day maintaining a record of all my purchases and learning about my spending habits.

Switch to Cold Water
I will switch to washing my clothes in cold water, saving up to 1,600 lbs of C02 over the course of the next year.
Nature
Explore My Area
I will explore at least one new hiking trail or nature walk in my area.
Energy
Upgrade My Windows
I will upgrade the windows or weatherstripping in my home or office to reduce air leaks and save on energy costs.

Jenn Donehey 10/22/2018 6:08 PMI got to the grocery store this weekend so I was able to make my lunches for the week. It saves so much money and is so, much healthier! I think out of all the changes I've made due to this challenge, this one is going to be the biggest change that hopefully sticks! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Explore My AreaHow can spending more time outdoors enhance your sense of place?
Jenn Donehey 10/20/2018 3:50 PMBy spending more time outdoors I naturally have a deeper sense of what is around me to appreciate, both in my neighborhood and when I travel to other places. I also notice things like changes in microclimate, ecology, and flora and fauna more acutely when I spend lots of time outdoors.-
Holly Smith 10/23/2018 9:59 PMSo true! Even sinply being aware of nature around me when i walk from my car into a store, etc. makes me feel refreshed

REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity Host a House PartyHow does environmental quality influence your sense of community?
Jenn Donehey 10/20/2018 3:47 PMWhen the people around me help be stewards to the earth, it creates a sense of making things better for all of us, as well as future generations. I naturally think of people who treat the earth respectfully as more generous, compassionate, likeable humans. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergy Upgrade My WindowsHow does improving your home's energy efficiency help you better live out your values?
Jenn Donehey 10/20/2018 3:45 PMBy getting our landlord to finally change out the last of our single pane windows this week we are conserving energy and money (in multiple ways) over a long period of time. Small changes can make big impacts! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Find Local Recycling DepotsOur ability to recycle certain things ebbs and flows based upon many factors. Luckily there are places that accept uncommon things to recycle or dispose of in a less harmful way. What did you find when looking for places to recycle items that can't be recycled in your curbside bin?
Jenn Donehey 10/17/2018 4:38 PMI found someone near me that recycles Tom's of Maine packaging including the deodorant packing my spouse and I use. I also found a place to recycle our Brita filters which is awesome!-
Katherine Carr 10/18/2018 4:57 PMOoh! I would love to learn what those resources are!

Jenn Donehey 10/17/2018 4:21 PMIt's been so lovely out this week. I have been able to eat lunch in the park near my office. It gives such a more refreshing effect to my lunch to eat outside, even just for those thirty minutes. -
Jenn Donehey 10/17/2018 4:20 PMBecause I was out of town this past weekend I did not have food to make my lunches for my work week. I can totally feel like difference in both my energy and my wallet by eating those lunches out every day like I used to. That one week made such an impact on me! I am looking forward t getting back to that next week.-
Katherine Carr 10/18/2018 4:59 PMIt's crazy how much of an impact it makes to eat food from home! And challenging to prep for when life gets busy.

Jenn Donehey 10/15/2018 4:10 PMI was out of town this weekend, but got a lot of chances to explore, enjoy, and notice nature. These cool dry fall days are my favorite and make it easy to be outside. -
Jenn Donehey 10/11/2018 4:25 PMI had my little homemade lunch again today. Looks like I am going to have made it all week! I sat outside in the park enjoying my lunch and the rogue warm sunny fall day checking a few things off my list. I am heading out of town for the weekend, so I am not too confident in keeping up with everything, but I am going to try! -
Jenn Donehey 10/10/2018 2:21 PMI'm home sick today but still kept to my two whole food meals and financial tracking. I also spent some time sitting in both my front and back yard watching the leaves and squirrels. Fall is quickly becoming my favorite time of year.
