Ron's actions
Energy
Adjust the Thermostat
I will adjust my thermostat down 2 degrees from usual when I use the heat, and up 2 degrees when I use air conditioning.
Nature
Join An Outdoor Project
I will join an outdoor restoration project in my community.
Energy
Online Energy Audit
I will complete an online energy audit of my home, office, or dorm room and identify my next steps for saving energy.
Waste
Use a Reusable Water Bottle
I will keep 4 disposable plastic bottle(s) from entering the waste stream by using a reusable water bottle.
Waste
Recycle Everything I Can
Contamination prevents what is recyclable from being recycled. I will spend 15 minutes researching and recycling all materials that are accepted by local haulers or drop stations in my community.
Waste
Skip the Straw
Plastic bags and small plastic pieces like straws are most likely to get swept into our waterways. I will keep 2 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill and ocean each day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.
Health
Happiness
I will write down three things every day that I am grateful for, or send one email every day thanking or praising someone.
Health
Go get a check up
I will make an appointment for my annual physical.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Recycle Everything I CanWhat have you learned about what is accepted by local haulers for recycling, what you can drop off or ship to certain places, and what is not recyclable in your area? What is the most difficult part of recycling for you?
Ron Gile 9/25/2018 2:06 PMI looked up my local hauler and they list the things that can and cannot be recycled. The most difficult part of recycling is that we have too many recyclables and they only pick it up once every other week. Our is overflowing. -
Ron Gile 9/25/2018 1:12 PMDoes this start in October? Are we just "warming up" right now?-
Jacob Sanchez 9/25/2018 1:35 PMYep, it starts October 3rd! For now, I would recommend you go ahead and explore/select the personal actions you'd like to take during the challenge. I'll send out an email on that as we get closer. -
