  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Waste Use a Reusable Water Bottle
While water bottles serve an important role in places for health and safety, we can do more to reduce the unnecessary use of them. Can you identify the barriers in making this a new habit? How can you set yourself up for success in making this a permanent change?

My water bottle has just become a part of me. I carry it with me everywhere I go and don't think twice. There are always places to fill it up, so its just a matter of getting in the habit of bringing it along with you. If you were going to bring a plastic bottle anyway, why not make it reusable?
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Reduce Single-Use Disposables
Bringing your own bags and containers to the grocery store, and even to restaurants for leftovers, are a couple of ways to reduce your waste. What single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?

I bring my lunch every day in a reusable container using reusable silverware. I try not to produce any trash by not packing any individually wrapped items.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Use a Reusable Mug
Maybe you've heard how good it is to switch from a single use coffee cup to a reuseable one but it's just hard to make the switch. Think about what stands in your way of making this a habit. By identifying the challenges, you can begin to work through them to have better success in taking this action. Knowing the difference you are making, how does it make you feel?

It feels great. Plus, I save a lot of money making my own coffee everyday. It tastes just as good, and I don't produce any trash.

How can you incorporate other personal values (like quality time with friends or spending time in nature) into your exercise routine?

I love being outside, so I am always looking for more outdoor activities. I seek out hikes that are a good workout and invite others to join to make them a social experience.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Reduce Animal Products
What do you think contributes to people in North America eating more meat than in other places, and what does this say about North American values and ways of living? How do we start shifting a meat-focused food culture?

It has become a part of North American culture to have a protein, vegetable, and starch for a "well-balanced" meal. People often think that the only protein source is meat. People don't explore other protein sources in which there are a lot of alternatives and wholesome meals that don't have to be according to this structure. To move away from this, we must promote alternative protein sources and creative cuisine that will draw people away from just eating meat.
