REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Exercise DailyHow can you incorporate other personal values (like quality time with friends or spending time in nature) into your exercise routine?
Robert Kauffman 10/24/2018 11:27 AMI've appreciated this reminder to exercise. A news item the other day claims that getting no exercise over time can be more destructive to your health than even smoking, if you can believe it! I've worked physically all my life (as a builder) and my body has always felt like a well-oiled machine -- as long as I used it. Amid health issues, etc., I'd fallen into a period of slacking off. I've not only felt less tightly put together but found that my consciousness of my body became more and more tenuous. I don't like it! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth HappinessHow does/can practicing gratitude keep you centered and motivated to work for a better world?
Robert Kauffman 10/03/2018 12:39 PMFirst of all, having gratitude for another person or seeing a way to be grateful for any occurrence immediately places me in the present moment and takes my mind off myself. But secondly, it sets up a positive feedback current -- obviously impacting people and animals but also apparent with inanimate machines and equipment. I could tell you stories of a s Skil saw that just wouldn't quit...
And really I've never seen anything work very well on negative feedback. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Take ControlHow do environmental health, community health, and your personal health intersect?
Robert Kauffman 10/03/2018 10:01 AMI'm coming to the realization that my personal health is tightly bound to the anxiety I have concerning the environmental state of the planet and the people around me. My current plan revolves around 'being with' the tremendous power of these feelings and not taking them personally -- i.e. in my lower back. However, I realize that this does not mean ignoring the above but receiving these thoughts mindfully.
