REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Eat MindfullyMindful eating is healthier for us than eating with distractions. How do your eating experiences differ when practicing mindfulness?
Sayha Long 10/24/2018 9:43 AMMindful eating allows me to eat slower and feel the food I am eating. Savor it and sometimes think about how the food will make me feel. It sound silly but food gives you energy and the wrong kids could slow down what you are trying to build. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Explore My AreaHow can spending more time outdoors enhance your sense of place?
Sayha Long 10/24/2018 9:41 AMSpending time outdoors allows you to connect to the world ad area in which you live. Discover new neighborhoods with new people. Discover new lunching spots at nearby parks and just be present. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Take ControlHow do environmental health, community health, and your personal health intersect?
Sayha Long 10/24/2018 9:40 AMIt all intersects organically. Enviromental health is important to grow and raise good food. The growing and raising process promotes a stronger community which fosters better mental and personal health. The foods we eat promote physical health. So, they all intersect. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Whole Foods DietMichael Pollan states that "it is better to pay the grocer (our edit: or the farmer!) than the doctor." What are your thoughts on this?
Sayha Long 10/24/2018 9:37 AMtakig the time to prepare ad make my own foods is very satisfying. Knowing everything that wet into the meal and the process in which it was prepared gives me a better idea of what fresh food is supposed to taste like and look like. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Work-Life BalanceIs practicing work-life balance difficult to do? How does it feel when you first begin? How does this feel for you after 21 days?
Sayha Long 10/19/2018 5:25 PMPracticing work/life balance is difficult at first because I have the need to work until I'm done. Since starting, I try to keep a schedule so that there is time for each task and still be able to go home on time. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Try a New Way to PrepCanning and pickling food is a great way to have delicious summer fruits and vegetables all year round. Just make sure to follow the canning and pickling guidelines from the USDA. What are some foods that you would like to preserve and enjoy later in the year?
Sayha Long 10/19/2018 5:21 PMI have been researching different ways to smoke and or dehaydrate foods. I have also asked friends to teach me canning. I tried canning apricot jam and its really fun! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Use Reusable BagsWhat do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reuseable one with you? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to establish this a successful habit?
Sayha Long 10/07/2018 10:06 AMIf I'm in this position, I will either buy less so I don't have to carry as much or carry it out in the cart and transfer it to the car. I can bring bags from my home to car and carry them in the home that way. Tacoma does not offer disposable bags any longer so if absolutely necessary, I may buy a bag. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity De-Clutter My HomeHow can you prevent yourself from accumulating more things in the future?
Sayha Long 10/07/2018 9:53 AMEach time I want to brig in a new item, I will evaluate if I need it. If appropriate, donate an item that the new item is replacing. -
