I will collect all of my unrecyclable, non-compostable trash to raise my awareness of how much I send to the landfill.

Jeff McFall 10/24/2018 12:09 PMThank you for the opportunity to participate in this event! -
Jeff McFall 10/22/2018 12:26 PMI'm doing pretty good on my recycling, but keep forgetting to check in. I started letting my cat lick the tin containers that her food comes in so they are easier to clean and recycle. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Personal Waste AuditWhy is it so difficult to understand the impacts our purchases and waste have on other people, animals, and places? How might your experience with this challenge impact your future consumption and choices?
Jeff McFall 10/22/2018 12:22 PMUnless a company is specifically focused on reducing packaging, most packaging is designed to appeal visually or to protect the product. I remember when I bought my bedroom set earlier in 2018. Naturally I wanted it to arrive in excellent condition, but the amount of packaging required to ensure it was shipped without damage was outrageous! There was so much heavy cardboard and cheap Styrofoam. It took me three weeks to cut up and recycle all of the cardboard. The Styrofoam on the other hand--there are only a couple of places that accept it and they are not close. I decided I won't buy from that company any more, but of course this was after I had already made a big purchase. -
Jeff McFall 10/18/2018 4:08 PMFortunately I have a co-worker who is good about reminding me to log in because I get so busy I tend to forget. Sorry I'm not being a more diligent participant. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Choose Two-Sided PrintingChoosing two-sided printing can be an easy adjustment on your computer settings. How can you help others make this same switch? Can it be encouraged company wide?
Jeff McFall 10/09/2018 1:30 PMSo much of what we print doesn't can be on both sides of the paper. I think it just takes a conscious effort to make sure printer settings are correct and consider the purpose for which a hard copy is needed. In meeting settings, sometimes people seated by each other can share a document.
