Amber's actions
Food
Reduce Animal Products
I will enjoy 1 meatless meal(s) and/or 0 vegan meal(s) each day this week.
Community
Volunteer in my Community
I will volunteer 10 hour(s) in my community during the challenge.
Water
5-Minute Showers
I will save up to 20 gallons (75 L) of water each day by taking 5-minute showers.
Transportation
Use Public Transit
I will use public transit 45 mile(s) each day and avoid sending up to 43.55 lbs of CO2 into Earth's atmosphere.
Health
Exercise Daily
Exercise is a great stress blaster! I will exercise for 30 minute(s) each day.
Waste
Skip the Straw
Plastic bags and small plastic pieces like straws are most likely to get swept into our waterways. I will keep 1 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill and ocean each day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.

REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Exercise DailyHow can you incorporate other personal values (like quality time with friends or spending time in nature) into your exercise routine?
Amber Perlmutter 10/23/2018 6:22 AMGoing to the gym with friends and working out together, and/or working out/running out in the woods or around town or at a park with other friends. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Use Public TransitThe US spends roughly 20% of its federal budget on defense. In contrast, 2% goes to education, 20% goes to social security and 3% goes to transportation infrastructure. Do these numbers surprise you at all? Why or why not?
Amber Perlmutter 10/03/2018 5:03 AMThese numbers do not surprise me because in the US, everyone glorifies the military and think that defense and the war on terrorism are most important. Education budget should be significantly increased, because it is important to fund our future generations. Public transportation should be increased as well, which could prevent further pollution, traffic, and auto accidents.-
Nicole Kozlowski 10/09/2018 4:47 AMCan I tell you how jealous I am that you can take public transportation?! So great that you are able to do that. The public transportation infrastructure in this state is really subpar compared to many other states. Would be nice to see a rail line from the shore (Monmouth County area) to Trenton in the future!
