Healthy Sleep
Effectively working for sustainability requires self care! I will commit to getting 15 more minute(s) of sleep each night to achieve at least 7 hours per night.
Waste
Skip the Straw
Plastic bags and small plastic pieces like straws are most likely to get swept into our waterways. I will keep 3 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill and ocean each day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.

Adriana Perro 10/24/2018 6:21 PMI am very glad I did this challenge because I knew even though I wanted to do these things, I had this challenge to help me stay on track. -
Adriana Perro 10/24/2018 6:18 PMI am glad that now even though the challenge is over, I will continue to do these things and continue working on improving these habits. -
Adriana Perro 10/23/2018 11:59 AMThis challenge is great! -
Adriana Perro 10/22/2018 2:06 PMBy doing this challenge, I see how easy it is to get into a habit. It also gives more incentive knowing what I am doing is making a (small) change in my life and the environment. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Use a Reusable Water BottleWhile water bottles serve an important role in places for health and safety, we can do more to reduce the unnecessary use of them. Can you identify the barriers in making this a new habit? How can you set yourself up for success in making this a permanent change?
Adriana Perro 10/22/2018 2:04 PMSome of the barriers with this isn't grabbing a plastic bottle its remembering my reusable one. If I forget it in the day then I am more likely to buy a plastic one if I am out. I can set myself up for success in making this permanent change would be to leave one of my reusable water bottles in my school bag so that way I always have one with me if I forget my other one in my room. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Skip the StrawHow could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle?
Adriana Perro 10/22/2018 1:45 PMI could incorporate other "R's" into my lifestyle by going to a thrift store when I chose to go shopping instead of the mall or other stores. At this same time I could also bring in my old clothes so I am not just adding more clothes. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Use Reusable BagsWhat do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reuseable one with you? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to establish this a successful habit?
Adriana Perro 10/22/2018 1:40 PMIf I am in the position of "needing" a plastic bag I will try my best to carry everything in my hands instead. More times than not I have someone else with me as well so I could also ask them for help. A system I could put in to establish this a successful habit would be to ensure I have a reusable bag with me whenever I leave my room. This way I always have one just incase. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Go get a check upHow do you practice self care?
Adriana Perro 10/22/2018 1:36 PMI practice self care by taking time out of my day to reflect on my feelings and thoughts. I do this by listening to music, going for a walk or working out. Doing this even for 20 minutes each day clears my mind and allows me have more focus on important things such as school. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Healthy SleepConsider how many hours of sleep you get now. How would you like to shift your sleep patterns? What are you finding works for you to be successful in this action?
Adriana Perro 10/22/2018 1:32 PMI would like to shift my sleep patterns by making myself more aware of the importance of more sleep. Being an athlete I see the difference it makes by adding on just a little but more time to sleep to my night. -
Adriana Perro 10/22/2018 1:20 PMAfter being in this challenge for a while it has made it almost a habit now to use reusable water bottles and not ask for a straw/plastic bag.
