How do you deal with the physical and emotional stress of the big problems we face? How can you help others cope?

I try to practice resiliency when faced with a difficult situation; no matter how bad my day or week is someone out there has far worse problems. I also try to keep perspective on stressful things see the joy in things that are not really a big deal - so I grabbed mismatch socks this morning, why not just have a good laugh about it!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Use Reusable Bags
What do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reuseable one with you? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to establish this a successful habit?

I keep a reusable bag in my purse but sometimes I forget to put it back after using it! When I am out and realize I don't have a reusable bag I just carry things by hand or in a cart.  In addition to keeping a bag in my purse I could also keep one in my desk at work and a few in my car.

    Waste Skip the Straw
How could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle?

It's easiest to start with refusing by bringing my own shopping bags with me to the store and skipping straws.  I really like using straws and have invested in reusable stainless steel straws that I can use over and over again. I try to repair things instead of replacing them whenever I can; with a little glue or thread and effort you can pretty easily fix a lot of things! I'm pretty handy with a sewing machine and have even fixed things for friends, and when something can't be fixed it's fun to find a way to use your old favorite shirt to make something new!
