  • REFLECTION QUESTION

How can you prevent yourself from accumulating more things in the future?

Recently I tried to find a place to put everything away. Eventually those places will fill up and I'll be forced to declutter. Also, when something new ends up in my house if there is a lack of piles to be dealt with later, I will be less likely to hold onto things I don't need.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Whole Foods Diet
Michael Pollan states that "it is better to pay the grocer (our edit: or the farmer!) than the doctor." What are your thoughts on this?

I’ve experimented with a sugar detox and try to only buy whole foods and I do feel a difference when I stick with it. That said, I’m not always on control of my food options and like to try new things so I find it hard to stay on track.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Reduce Animal Products
What do you think contributes to people in North America eating more meat than in other places, and what does this say about North American values and ways of living? How do we start shifting a meat-focused food culture?

Meat is often seen as a luxury in other countries but is considered a staple in the US. Having more options helps as meatless options are often few and far between which doesn’t bode well for adoption.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Find Local Recycling Depots
Our ability to recycle certain things ebbs and flows based upon many factors. Luckily there are places that accept uncommon things to recycle or dispose of in a less harmful way. What did you find when looking for places to recycle items that can't be recycled in your curbside bin?

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transportation Choose a Carbon Offset
A round-trip flight from New York City to Los Angeles emits just over 1.5 tons of CO2—per person. That’s a lot of carbon! What can you do to reduce the number of flights you take per year?

Carried my trash for the day. Wasn’t too much because I could recycle or compost most and happened to avoid refined sugars the same day which happened to cut down the packaging.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Health Audit Toxic Cleaning Products in my Home
To what extent do you believe that environmental factors contribute to your own health or issues with health?

Greatly, they say you are what you eat but you breathe even more often so it’s important to surround your air and environment with non-toxins.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

How does/can practicing gratitude keep you centered and motivated to work for a better world?

It’s a reminder of what’s good in the world, that might slip through the cracks if I don’t make time to consider it.
