Well, final day is started.  Another great challenge on the books.  I just need to get outside on my break and take walk to feel like I finished strong.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transportation Improve a Bus Stop
How can you advocate for transportation systems which minimize environmental impact while also meeting human needs?

I feel that the public transportation system up here leaves something to be desired.  In recent years they have cut or reduced routes, and that means more people on the roads.  I would like to advocate to local lawmakers to see if there is something to be done about this.  With more expanded routes and hours of operation, I feel like more people would utilize the systems and therefore reduce traffic and our carbon footprint.

Food Try a New Way to Prep
Canning and pickling food is a great way to have delicious summer fruits and vegetables all year round. Just make sure to follow the canning and pickling guidelines from the USDA. What are some foods that you would like to preserve and enjoy later in the year?

I'm not really a fan of pickled items, however canning is really something that I'm interested in.  I only wish that I had been able to get started during this challenge.  I will try it soon, though.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Plant an Herb Garden
Consider the ways you can garden: a plot of land? a patio container? hanging basket? windowsill gardens? What would work best for your living situation and lifestyle?

I actually purchased a patio planter two years ago, and had never put soil in it.  Now it does.  I also would like to purchase a couple of dwarf fruit trees, as well as a hanging tomato planter.

Kind of tired this morning, but I made sure to get a full 7 hours of sleep that I definitely needed.  I'm feeling tired, but also a bit refreshed.  Ready to put some work in.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Nature Go for a Daily Walk
How do you experience your neighborhood or city differently when walking instead of driving?

    Brooklynn Solomon's avatar

I'v actually lived here for nearing three years now, and due to the configuration of the community, I never venture out behind the community, just out onto the main street.  Taking my daily walks has let me explore a bit of the neighborhood that I don't usually see.  It's given me a different perspective of where I reside, and I like it.
