  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Water Mulch the Base of Trees and Plants
Where are your nearest natural bodies of water? How might they be affected by runoff?

The Columbia Slough is the closest. Nitrification from fertilizer could be a problem, in addition to any other toxins (oil, other car fluids) that drain from roads and parking lots.

People of color and low income communities are often in areas of fewer transit options. They are often transit dependent, and paying the transit fare may be more of a financial burden.

turn off lights, close curtains at night, wash clothes on cold, line dry laundry, etc!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Find Local Recycling Depots
Our ability to recycle certain things ebbs and flows based upon many factors. Luckily there are places that accept uncommon things to recycle or dispose of in a less harmful way. What did you find when looking for places to recycle items that can't be recycled in your curbside bin?

I was looking for somewhere to recycle plastic caps. I did not find anywhere (SCRAP sometimes takes them, but is currently full.) However, I did find out that metal bottle caps are ok to recycle curbside as long as they are put into a larger metal can. And Metro has a recycling hotline, in case you have any recycling queries that cannot be answered on the website!

If you were to only eat what is in season locally, what would be the hardest for you to give up?

Chocolate and tea would be the things I would miss most.
