    Wow. Found a bag of magazines in the back of my closet. Don’t even remember putting them there. Straight to the recycling bin then! I figure if I don’t even recall then they can’t be important to me at all. I had such an amazing time in the garden today. Saw bright purple butterflies and ladybugs and tadpoles.

    I have to admit, going on a walk in the veld with a three-year old and leaving no trace is... challenging. I managed to get him to stay on the paths, and keep the rocks he picked up on the path too. He wanted to pick flowers (he loves making arrangements for me at home) and luckily he understood our explanation of why we said “no”. Saw a lovely sunset from the kopje, all worth it!

    I'm in two minds about the "leave no trace" daily challenge ... if I didn't actually spend time out in nature (and, does a garden count as nature?) should I still tick it off? Technically, yes, I didn't leave a trace ...

    After dinner: tend to the garden. Then declutter. Before bed: journal 3 gratitude items. Again based on James Clear’s approach to find existing triggers to add new habits.

    Going to follow the James Clear method for decluttering. So today, declutter one item. Tomorrow: two. Etc. I had to be a bit disciplined with this; was tempting to put in more effort on the first day.

    Day 1. It’s raining! So lovely for my garden. I would not have gone out if it wasn’t for the challenge, and some of my shrubs are in bloom for the first time in years
