Waste

Recycle Everything I Can

Contamination prevents what is recyclable from being recycled. I will spend 20 minutes researching and recycling all materials that are accepted by local haulers or drop stations in my community.

COMPLETED 2
DAILY ACTIONS

Waste

Reduce Single-Use Disposables

Historically, marginalized and low-income communities live closer to landfills, contributing to a multitude of health problems. I will find out how I can limit single-use items and do my best to limit the waste I generate.

For this challenge I chose to reduce my waste production by "reducing single use disposables" and "choosing two-sided printing". I use a lot of k-cups in my keurig even though I have reusable ones so it has been a bit of a challenge to spend more time filling and cleaning those instead of using the pre-made k-cups. I have also been more conscious while grocery shopping and have tried to avoid buying products in plastic packages. As for the printing, I have been cutting back on printing and reading documents on my laptop instead which has been a bit of an adjustment. When it is necessary to print though I have been printing double sided. I knew that this would be challenging for me but I did not anticipate the extra time it would take each day especially with the reusable k-cups.
