Water
Conserve Toilet Water
I will save up to 12 gallons (45 L) of water a day by flushing only when necessary.
Health
Healthy Sleep
Effectively working for sustainability requires self care! I will commit to getting 30 more minute(s) of sleep each night to achieve at least 7 hours per night.

At least 30% of crops and 90% of flowering plants rely on pollinators to produce fruit. I will spend 30 minutes researching which plants support local native pollinators and plant some in my yard.

Forage for My Food
I will use the 'Learn More' resources below to find where I can forage for my own food locally.
Energy
Choose Clean/Renewable Energy
I will sign up for my utility company's clean/renewable energy option.
Energy
Online Energy Audit
I will complete an online energy audit of my home, office, or dorm room and identify my next steps for saving energy.
Energy
Power Down the Computer
I will power down my computer and monitor when not using it for more than 2 hours, saving up to (1.1) lbs of CO2 each day that I do this.

I will make an appointment for my annual physical.
Health
Support Pollution Reduction
I will spend at least 30 minutes learning about water and air quality issues in my area, how they are impacting human and environmental health, and how I can help.
Nature
Explore My Area
I will explore at least one new hiking trail or nature walk in my area.
Water
5-Minute Showers
I will save up to 20 gallons (75 L) of water each day by taking 5-minute showers.

REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Support Pollution ReductionWhat environmental factors affect human health in your region, and how do they affect it?
Jay Aber 10/24/2018 9:42 AMTransportation is a huge environmental factor. Air pollution, noise pollution, light pollution, and green house gasses contributing to global warming are all a major problem with cars. We need to get people out of their cars and walking, biking, and riding transit more! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Healthy SleepConsider how many hours of sleep you get now. How would you like to shift your sleep patterns? What are you finding works for you to be successful in this action?
Jay Aber 10/24/2018 9:41 AMGetting off the phone at night. Going to bed earlier. Realizing that I need to sleep to be productive at work and home! -

REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Go by BikeHow do your transportation choices affect your engagement in your community? Does your experience differ while walking, riding transit, biking or driving?
Jay Aber 10/24/2018 9:40 AMI feel so much more connected to the city when on the bus or biking. I feel like I'm part of the environment, rather than just moving through it like when I'm in a car.-
Josh Gipper 10/24/2018 10:19 AMChew on this, "Mobility is incredibly empathizing." from my LinkedIn contact Alex Ortiz

REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Forage for My FoodAmongst the motivations for foraging are: a source of food; means of income; connecting with nature; cultural tradition; or transmitting "local ecological knowledge, and a means for stewarding local and native plant populations" (McLain et al. 2012, 13). Which of these would be your chief motivation and why?
Jay Aber 10/19/2018 7:59 AMConnect with nature and cultural tradition. I want a greater connection to my ancestors and the land to understand better how food has been grown and harvested naturally over millennia.
