As a local community we will know what is in our food and what foods and how much is needed vs big corporations trying to drive the consumer to what they believe the consumer wants and needs. This mentally is not for the common good but to line the Big Corporations pockets.

Chrissy's actions
Energy
Power Down the Computer
I will power down my computer and monitor when not using it for more than 2 hours, saving up to (1.1) lbs of CO2 each day that I do this.
Energy
Turn it off
I will keep lights, electronics, and appliances turned off when not using them.
Water
Ditch the Lawn
I will replace my lawn with a drought-tolerant landscape and save the water, money, and time I used to spend cutting the grass.
Energy
Choose LED Bulbs
I will replace 6 incandescent lightbulb(s) with Energy Star-certified LED bulbs, saving up to $14 per fixture per year.
Waste
Use a Reusable Water Bottle
I will keep 5 disposable plastic bottle(s) from entering the waste stream by using a reusable water bottle.
Waste
Skip the Straw
Plastic bags and small plastic pieces like straws are most likely to get swept into our waterways. I will keep 4 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill and ocean each day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.
Waste
Use Reusable Bags
I will not accept any disposable bags when making purchases.
Waste
Go Paperless
I will reduce the amount of paper mail that I receive by opting into paperless billing and ending unwanted subscriptions.
Food
Watch a Documentary about Food Sovereignty
I will watch 1 documentary(ies) about food sovereignty: the right of local peoples to control their own food systems including markets, ecological resources, food cultures and production methods.
Community
Host a House Party
I will host a house party with 15 friends and/or colleagues to watch a movie or present a guest speaker on an environmental issue that matters to me.
Health
Go get a check up
I will make an appointment for my annual physical.
Health
Know My health
I will get my Core Four Biometrics tests (blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar and BMI).
Health
Take Control
Both system and personal sustainability are important! I will develop a plan with my medical professionals to achieve my best health and live my life to the fullest.

Chrissy Bynum 10/16/2018 8:04 AMI'm hoping I win one of the glass straws. I haven't tried one yet. I use metal straws and have been for a couple years now. I also have a couple of silicone straws but no glass ones. Does anyone out there use the glass straws? Do you like them? Do they break easily? -

Chrissy Bynum 10/15/2018 7:34 AMJust wanted to encourage everyone to at least try one of the challenges. Small changes turn into great impact within time. So I challenge you to take the plunge... -
Chrissy Bynum 10/12/2018 8:12 AMUsing your own reusable bags is easy always carry at least one with you. I live in a community (McMinnville) that the City passed a no bag...period ordinance. If you want a bag you must pay for it. So lets make a change...it really is easy...I challenge you all to at least try it for a week...we all have those reusable bags sitting around...All you have to do is remember to have handy, -
Chrissy Bynum 10/11/2018 3:27 PMA little tip...always be prepared with a reusable water bottle or straw. Keep one in your car, backpack, purse or computer bag. -
