Food
Weekly Meal Planning
I will reduce food waste and save money by planning a weekly menu, only buying the ingredients I need.
Food
Whole Foods Diet
I will enjoy 1 meal(s) each day free of processed foods.
Waste
Skip the Straw
Plastic bags and small plastic pieces like straws are most likely to get swept into our waterways. I will keep 3 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill and ocean each day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.
Food
Choose Organic Ingredients
I will enjoy 2 meal(s) cooked with organic ingredients each day.
Waste
Use Reusable Bags
I will not accept any disposable bags when making purchases.

REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodAn average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Does this surprise you? Where would you rather use this money?
Amber Cagle 10/16/2018 10:33 AMI have recently started making list and weekly menus to reduce our food wast, but we still throw out a lot of food. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodMichael Pollan states that "it is better to pay the grocer (our edit: or the farmer!) than the doctor." What are your thoughts on this?
Amber Cagle 10/16/2018 10:33 AMYes, I have used food as medicine to help with my autoimmune disease and it has gotten me entirely off of Prescription medicines. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodCan organic farming feed the world? Which side of the argument do you fall on? Why?
Amber Cagle 10/16/2018 10:32 AMNo I don't believe It can as it produces 19-26% less of a crop than non Organic Farming. However it also uses less water, so if we could somehow ensure larger crops, we may be able to.
