Amanda 's actions
Waste
Launch a Recycling Program
I will start a recycling program at my workplace or school. If a recycling program exists, I will advocate for ways to improve and expand it.
Simplicity
Disconnect from Email
I will disconnect from my email when not working or studying.
Simplicity
Limit Social Media
I will limit my social media use to once each day reducing my daily use by 60 minute(s)
Simplicity
Meditate
I will meditate or create a moment of silence for 30 minute(s) each day to reflect on things important to me.
Community
Host a House Party
I will host a house party with 5 friends and/or colleagues to watch a movie or present a guest speaker on an environmental issue that matters to me.
Food
Weekly Meal Planning
I will reduce food waste and save money by planning a weekly menu, only buying the ingredients I need.
Food
Try a New Way to Prep
I will try a new method of food preparation, such as canning, pickling, or baking bread.
Nature
Explore My Area
I will explore at least one new hiking trail or nature walk in my area.
Waste
Reduce Single-Use Disposables
Historically, marginalized and low-income communities live closer to landfills, contributing to a multitude of health problems. I will find out how I can limit single-use items and do my best to limit the waste I generate.
Waste
Advocate For More Food Packaging Options
I will advocate for alternatives to single-use packaging at local grocery stores, markets, at work, or on campus.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

Amanda Chastain 10/18/2018 11:29 PMSpent some time looking up recipes today and now that I see how easy it is to make sunflower butter, I'm definitely trying it out! -

Amanda Chastain 9/20/2018 4:12 PMThe ASPCA is doing a "Factory Farm Detox" challenge September 24-30, asking everyone to cut out factory farm-sourced animal products and replace them with local humanely raised options, or choosing plant-based options instead. They're also providing info for people to help understand food labels and how to become an informed consumer. https://secure.aspca.org/take-action/detox?ms=wb_rig_ad-ffd-chicken-2018911&initialms=wb_rig_ad-ffd-chicken-2018911
