Elora's actions
Create Your Own Action
Wear a sweater or hat instead of turning on the heat
Keep the thermostat down!
Transportation
Walk Instead
I will walk 4 mile(s) each day instead of driving and avoid sending up to 2.14 lbs of CO2 into Earth's atmosphere.
Waste
Launch a Recycling Program
I will start a recycling program at my workplace or school. If a recycling program exists, I will advocate for ways to improve and expand it.
Health
More Fruits and Veggies
I will eat a heart healthy diet by adding 2 cup(s) of fruits and vegetables each day to achieve at least 4 cups per day.
Waste
Carry my Trash
I will carry all of my unrecyclable, non-compostable trash with me to raise my awareness of how much I send to the landfill.
Waste
Use a Reusable Water Bottle
I will keep 2 disposable plastic bottle(s) from entering the waste stream by using a reusable water bottle.
Waste
Recycle Everything I Can
Contamination prevents what is recyclable from being recycled. I will spend 30 minutes researching and recycling all materials that are accepted by local haulers or drop stations in my community.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Use a Reusable Water BottleWhile water bottles serve an important role in places for health and safety, we can do more to reduce the unnecessary use of them. Can you identify the barriers in making this a new habit? How can you set yourself up for success in making this a permanent change?
Elora Conder 10/03/2018 4:07 PMI wish there were water bottle filling stations at my school like we have in our apartment building. I wish they had them in T stations, too. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Walk InsteadHalf of all trips made in the US are three miles or less; 72% of them are driven. Do you feel that this fact applies to you? If so, how might you incorporate more muscle-powered transportation in your daily life?
Elora Conder 10/03/2018 4:05 PMI walk to school every day, rain or shine. I get exercise every day this way, and it's a great time to talk with my Mommy and Daddy. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth More Fruits and VeggiesWhat do you think contributes to people in North America eating more meat than any other places, and what does this say about North American values and ways of living? How can we start shifting from a meat-focused food culture to a more plant-based one?
Elora Conder 10/03/2018 4:04 PMBecause protein is seen as healthy compared to carbs and fats. But that comes at a cost of health to the environment (cows especially), so it's time to look into other sources of protein and plant-based diets.
