Jessica's actions
Health
Happiness
I will write down three things every day that I am grateful for, or send one email every day thanking or praising someone.
Energy
Turn it off
I will keep lights, electronics, and appliances turned off when not using them.
Health
Go get a check up
I will make an appointment for my annual physical.
Simplicity
Go for a Daily Walk
I will take a walk for 20 minutes each day.
Health
Eliminate Toxic Plastics
I will avoid buying toxic plastics - including polycarbonate, polystyrene and polyvinyl - and instead replace them with bioplastic or durable options.
Waste
Skip the Straw
Plastic bags and small plastic pieces like straws are most likely to get swept into our waterways. I will keep 2 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill and ocean each day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.

Jessica Fuller 10/24/2018 7:38 AMI think the hardest part of my challenge hasn't been the straws or the remembering to turn off the lights. It's been writing my gratitudes of the day. I get so wrapped up in what I'm doing and making sure I get x, y, z done that I forget to be grateful for the ability to even do those things. Having this as part of my daily challenge has made me realize how lucky I am. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Go for a Daily WalkFresh air and movement are good for our entire being and can help us think more clearly and creatively. How does taking a walk each day affect yourself and/or your work?
Jessica Fuller 10/03/2018 11:31 AMTaking a walk each day gives me a change to enjoy nature and clear my head as well as get me moving after a long day at work. It's also a great stress reliever! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth HappinessHow does/can practicing gratitude keep you centered and motivated to work for a better world?
Jessica Fuller 10/03/2018 11:25 AMSometimes I get caught up in the day to day stress of life and I forget to think about what I'm grateful for. Taking the extra time at the end of my day to think about what I'm thankful for makes me appreciate the small things in life that make it so much brighter -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Eliminate Toxic PlasticsWhat single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?
Jessica Fuller 10/02/2018 1:57 PMcoffee cups, straws, and plastic bags are my biggest single-use items that I come across. I already use a thermos when I'm at work, but I see a lot of people using disposable cups. Straws are my biggest nemesis! I use them to drink and to stir my drinks. The best substitute for me could be a spoon or a reusable straw. For plastic bags I've started replacing them with reusable containers or bees wrap (Bees Wrap is the best!!!) -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Go get a check upHow do you practice self care?
Jessica Fuller 10/02/2018 1:52 PMI like to take a few minutes of my day to practice self-care in whatever way I need at the time. Whether it's taking the time to read a book or take a walk. My most favorite form of self-care is yoga. It clears my mind and gets me moving! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergy Turn it offHow is electricity generated where you live? How does it impact the environment, animals, and humans?
Jessica Fuller 10/02/2018 1:33 PMThis is never a question I've thought about before. I would love to investigate further into how it's generated in my neighborhood and how that would impact the environment where I live.
