Linda's actions
Waste
Advocate For More Food Packaging Options
I will advocate for alternatives to single-use packaging at local grocery stores, markets, at work, or on campus.
Health
Exercise Daily
Exercise is a great stress blaster! I will exercise for 1 minute(s) each day.
Health
Take Control
Both system and personal sustainability are important! I will develop a plan with my medical professionals to achieve my best health and live my life to the fullest.
Health
More Fruits and Veggies
I will eat a heart healthy diet by adding 1 cup(s) of fruits and vegetables each day to achieve at least 4 cups per day.
Waste
Use a Reusable Mug
I will avoid sending 2 disposable cup(s) to the landfill each day by using a reusable mug.
Waste
Skip the Straw
Plastic bags and small plastic pieces like straws are most likely to get swept into our waterways. I will keep 1 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill and ocean each day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.
Waste
Use a Reusable Water Bottle
I will keep 7 disposable plastic bottle(s) from entering the waste stream by using a reusable water bottle.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Take ControlHow do environmental health, community health, and your personal health intersect?
Linda Kloet 10/24/2018 8:54 AMBy being better stewards of environmental and community health, it will have a positive impact on not only mine own, but everyone's personal health! We can make our community and environment healthier for all people one baby step at a time! -

Plastic saved by bringing my own cloth grocery bags to the store! -
Linda Kloet 10/15/2018 5:32 AMGreat! remembering to bring my coffee cup in for refills instead of using disposable cups! -
Linda Kloet 10/08/2018 11:10 AMIt's actually easier to be ecofriendly than what it seems! I like the challenge though, as it does bring the awareness up to the surface and keeps me cognizant of things to be mindful of! -
Linda Kloet 10/03/2018 7:59 AMChallenge is going good so far. Definitely being in a challenge heightens awareness! -
Linda Kloet 10/02/2018 2:27 PMI really work hard to plan my weekly meals out so I don't buy a lot of unnecessary food. Likewise, I try to only cook the portions I know we'll eat so we don't have leftovers. If we do have leftovers, the 2nd night I'll modify the main dish slightly and make a different meal to try to use up all the portions. -
Linda Kloet 10/02/2018 2:24 PMI always have cloth bags for shopping in my vehicle. If I don't, I won't go to the store until I do. I don't like all the plastic and paper waste!
