Eat Mindfully
I will eat all of my meals without distractions, e.g., phone, computer, TV, or newspaper.
Simplicity
Needs Vs. Wants
I will adopt a "Needs Vs. Wants" approach and only buy things I need.

Maranda Laws 10/23/2018 1:50 PMToday is our date night, I am going to use it to explore a new area to walk in, loving the wonderful warm afternoons. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Skip the StrawHow could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle?
Maranda Laws 10/22/2018 1:51 PMWe are so quick to run out and buy a new something when one breaks, when there may be someone you know that has an extra they aren't using. Social media makes it easy to ask. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Eat MindfullyMindful eating is healthier for us than eating with distractions. How do your eating experiences differ when practicing mindfulness?
Maranda Laws 10/22/2018 1:48 PMI make an effort to not have the tv on, no phones at the table, and focus on the people that are there, and enjoying what I am eating. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity MeditateWhat would you like to invest more time in reflecting on?
Maranda Laws 10/22/2018 1:47 PMMy son recently moved for college, and I would really like to invest time into reflecting on what I want to do with my future. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Needs Vs. WantsHow is creativity necessary for practicing simplicity?
Maranda Laws 10/22/2018 1:46 PMYou have to find different ways of doing things, we get used to doing things a certain way, and have to think outside the box to simplify our lives ironically. -
Maranda Laws 10/19/2018 7:13 AMI have heard people talk about opting out of junk mailings, does anyone have info on how to do so? -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Take ControlHow do environmental health, community health, and your personal health intersect?
Maranda Laws 10/18/2018 10:05 AMThey are all related, when the environment around you is bad, such as fire season here, it affects your personal health in a negative way. Community health, especially when working in an office, can effect you. When one person gets sick, it usually makes its way around.
The other side is, when you find something to help your health, you can share it in your community and hopefully change it for the better. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Plant an Herb GardenConsider the ways you can garden: a plot of land? a patio container? hanging basket? windowsill gardens? What would work best for your living situation and lifestyle?
Maranda Laws 10/18/2018 10:02 AMI grow my herbs in the windowsill of my kitchen, it looks pretty and smells so delicious. The light is also perfect there. We have regular flowerbeds and also have a tree in a large bucket, it was a wedding gift and we want to take it to plant when we buy a house. -
Maranda Laws 10/17/2018 12:25 PMLooking forward to intentionally spending time outdoors this afternoon. The leaves are gorgeous and the weather is perfect for a walk. Hopefully the fresh air rids my lungs of all the germs from the office :) -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Explore My AreaHow can spending more time outdoors enhance your sense of place?
Maranda Laws 10/17/2018 12:24 PMFor me, being spiritual, being in the outdoors helps me feel closer to God, which helps reinforce my sense of place, my sense of belonging in the world. There are less distractions, less electronics etc. I fills me back up.
