So many fruits and vegetables in their prime right now! Try kohlrabi: looks like a satellite, crunches like an apple, tastes like a mild cabbage (its in the cabbage family). Peel the bulb, cut into sticks and use as a dipper for your favorite dip. Grate into a slaw. Cook into fritters. Add cubes to soup. Bonus zero waste tip - the leaves are also delicious cooked. For a fun family activity, the Home Orchard Society All About Fruit Show is October 20 & 21 in Canby. Info here: http://www.homeorchardsociety.org/hos-news/2017-fruit-show/
