Food
Locally-Sourced Meals
I will source 1 meal(s) each day from local producers.
Nature
Support Local Pollinators
At least 30% of crops and 90% of flowering plants rely on pollinators to produce fruit. I will spend 30 minutes researching which plants support local native pollinators and plant some in my yard.
Nature
Tend a Garden
I will tend to a garden each day, or work on starting one.
Nature
Leave No Trace
I will practice the seven principles of Leave No Trace when doing nature activities alone or with family and friends.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Tend a GardenHave you ever had a significant experience in nature that altered your perspective or focus? If so, please describe it.
Jennifer Morris 10/15/2018 2:57 PMDaily. My early mornings are almost always spent outside and they always change my focus to one of collaboration and positive energy. Everything is interconnected, even an introduced species like the wild turkeys that are on a population explosion here. They are everywhere at my barn in the early mornings, but have carved out some space from the crows who had previously over populated us and are busily eating bugs out of the horse manure so may be helping us by reducing the number of flies. Now if I could just teach them to eat yellowjacket wasps! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Support Local PollinatorsWhy is it important to take care of pollinators?
Jennifer Morris 10/03/2018 11:19 PMI love apples. Although, more seriously, I also love that we can all eat and eat local and eat fresh and without pollinators we won't e able to do any of that. I detest the thought that our thoughtless behavior is unnecessarily ending the lives of any creature. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Leave No TraceEducator Stephanie Kaza advises her students to focus on what they care about most when addressing the enormity of ecological problems. Is there a specific area you feel particularly called to work on?
Jennifer Morris 10/03/2018 11:17 PMI am pretty focused on plastic right now and amused a friend by picking up trash during our walk today :-) -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Locally-Sourced MealsIf you were to only eat what is in season locally, what would be the hardest for you to give up?
Jennifer Morris 10/03/2018 11:16 PMI am pretty good about eating what is in season, but giving up chocolate would be TOUGH! -
Jennifer Morris 10/01/2018 2:37 PMI made apple sauce from my dwarf apple trees this weekend. -
Jennifer Morris 9/24/2018 9:58 AMThis is a great way to refocus priorities, and the autumn is always a time of change for me so it feels right to gather what is going well on my personal sustainability journey and think about what I can do better.
