Nancy Nguyen Watiker 10/08/2018 10:38 AMSo true! Food waste is such a real and big problem. If we were efficient and good about eating all of the food we procure, we could reduce our need pretty drastically and contribute less waste while saving much more money.

Food
Reduce Animal Products
I will enjoy 1 meatless meal(s) and/or 1 vegan meal(s) each day this week.
Waste
Skip the Straw
Plastic bags and small plastic pieces like straws are most likely to get swept into our waterways. I will keep 1 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill and ocean each day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.
Food
Weekly Meal Planning
I will reduce food waste and save money by planning a weekly menu, only buying the ingredients I need.
Waste
Choose Two-Sided Printing
I will save up to .21 lbs (.09 kg) of paper each day by switching from one-sided printing to two-sided.

REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodAn average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Does this surprise you? Where would you rather use this money?
Jade Ruiz 10/08/2018 7:43 AMI always try to use up all of my food. Especially any animal products. I am surprised that people throw away good food, or buy more than they can consume. That amount of money could be used towards a nice vacation with the family instead.
