I will start a recycling program at my workplace or school. If a recycling program exists, I will advocate for ways to improve and expand it.

Energy
Replace Manual Thermostats
I will replace manual thermostats with programmable ones.
Water
Collect Rain Water
I will create a rain garden or bioswale, or use rain barrels to collect water for outdoor watering needs.

Find Local Recycling Depots
I will spend at least 10 minutes finding out where to recycle the recyclable items that I can't put in my curbside bin.
Transportation
Work from Home
I will work from home 1 day(s) to avoid my commute's carbon output.
Transportation
Car Share

Try a New Way to Prep

Meet My Local Farmers
I will visit my nearest farm to find out who produces my food, and will learn about the quality of life of those who produce my food in other regions of the world to make better choices when I shop.
Waste
Choose Two-Sided Printing
I will save up to .21 lbs (.09 kg) of paper each day by switching from one-sided printing to two-sided.

Use a Reusable Mug
I will avoid sending 2 disposable cup(s) to the landfill each day by using a reusable mug.
Health
More Fruits and Veggies
I will eat a heart healthy diet by adding 1 cup(s) of fruits and vegetables each day to achieve at least 4 cups per day.
Waste
Use a Reusable Water Bottle
I will keep 2 disposable plastic bottle(s) from entering the waste stream by using a reusable water bottle.
Food
Whole Foods Diet
I will enjoy 1 meal(s) each day free of processed foods.

EcoChallenge Continued
Today is the last day of the EcoChallenge. I want to continue to be active in my household, work and community with recycling and such. Also, I want to be more conscience of my waste, food, electric use in the future.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergy Replace Manual ThermostatsHow do you anticipate replacing your thermostats for programmable ones will positively impact your life?
Erin Stamm 10/24/2018 10:24 AMWe are able to adjust for when we are out for the day or at night in advance. This helps us when we are rushing around in the morning and may forget. This will help save money as well.-
Alicia Kueper 10/24/2018 12:06 PMI want to get a smart thermostat that I can adjust when I’m not home. Mine is programmable, with like 5 times you can adjust throughout each day, but I wonder how accurate it is since it’s so old.

REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Launch a Recycling ProgramHow might thinking creatively help us address big systems problems differently?
Erin Stamm 10/24/2018 10:23 AMI didn't technically start this challenge, but I feel like I am contributing and am definitely more aware of my recycling habits. I am also encouraging my husband to recycle more in his classroom.
