John Wasiutynski 10/15/2018 12:15 PMBest thing I did this weekend was spend an afternoon with my family at Oxbow Park. The dry weather is keeping the salmon from spawning, we need more rain to raise the water level so that the fish can spawn. But the sunshine and warm weather made for a great day outside, and helped our family commit to more time outside, rain or shine! -

John Wasiutynski 10/05/2018 9:43 AMBiking in the rain today. I guess it is that time of year. But after such a dry summer and so many fires, I don't mind so much. Thankful to have good waterproof clothes!-

John Wasiutynski 10/01/2018 11:26 AMEcoChallenge 2018 starts in 2 days, but I got a head start on my goal this weekend by opting for a plant based meal at a local Portland restaurant, HUB's Bike Bar on Williams. I really wanted a burger, and noticed that they had the Beyond Burger on the menu. I went for it, and it was one of the best burgers I have had at a restaurant in recent memory. I got all I wanted out of my meal, with 90% fewer Greenhouse Gas emissions. Reducing animal protein in your diet does not mean becoming anything other than a more conscious consumer, and it does not mean giving anything up. If you can have a tasty burger with no meat, then maybe you can have it all! -
John Wasiutynski 9/25/2018 8:10 PMI am stoked to get going on the eco-challenge. Most of the time we think about habits as bad things, but they don't have to be. A habit can be really positive, like a the habit of taking the stairs, or taking a walk during lunch. I can use more good habits in my life and the Eco-challenge is a great way of doing that. I want to make a habit this October for good. -
John Wasiutynski 9/12/2018 10:45 AMA few years ago I committed to only buying coffee if I have a reusable cup. With the eco-challenge upon us it is a good reminder to recommit to the things I have done in the past and finds new ways of making small changes for good. One thing I am going to commit to is eating less meat!
