KATHLEEN's actions
Waste
Reduce Single-Use Disposables
Historically, marginalized and low-income communities live closer to landfills, contributing to a multitude of health problems. I will find out how I can limit single-use items and do my best to limit the waste I generate.
Health
More Fruits and Veggies
I will eat a heart healthy diet by adding 2 cup(s) of fruits and vegetables each day to achieve at least 4 cups per day.
Health
Exercise Daily
Exercise is a great stress blaster! I will exercise for 20 minute(s) each day.
Food
Reduce Animal Products
I will enjoy 1 meatless meal(s) and/or 1 vegan meal(s) each day this week.

REFLECTION QUESTIONWasteBringing your own bags and containers to the grocery store, and even to restaurants for leftovers, are a couple of ways to reduce your waste. What single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?
KATHLEEN WHITE 10/04/2018 8:12 AMMany water bottles come with 'hard plastic' or metal re-usable straws!! This is an awesome trend I appreciate very much. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealthWhat do you think contributes to people in North America eating more meat than any other places, and what does this say about North American values and ways of living? How can we start shifting from a meat-focused food culture to a more plant-based one?
KATHLEEN WHITE 10/04/2018 8:11 AMI hear so many people say the 'hate vegetables'; that meat and potatoes are their thing. It saddens me a great deal because they won't even try. Fixed mindset from way back and not willing to budge.
A small shift is happening with the protein shakes/meal replacement shakes. They make getting vegetables easy for those people; but no way as good for them as eating fresh produce. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealthHow can you incorporate other personal values (like quality time with friends or spending time in nature) into your exercise routine?
KATHLEEN WHITE 10/04/2018 8:08 AMBy exercising along with my dog! I love her and we both need it to be healthy. -

KATHLEEN WHITE 10/04/2018 8:07 AMI believe it's due to the massive availability in NA for starters. It's just easy for us to buy, store and not have to do anything difficult to get it.
The shift has to start with our health. NA eats more meat then most other countries and is also the unhealthiest I believe. As people try to get healthier, that will come with consuming less meat.
