  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste
While water bottles serve an important role in places for health and safety, we can do more to reduce the unnecessary use of them. Can you identify the barriers in making this a new habit? How can you set yourself up for success in making this a permanent change?

Even if we get a water bottle at home, we always make sure it is reused and/or recycled.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste
How could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle?

Less eating out! More reusing baby items. Repairing instead of replacing.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste
What do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reuseable one with you? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to establish this a successful habit?

If I just forgot the bag in the car, I leave the items in the cart and fill the reusable bags in the car. If I have no cart or it is for some reason not possible, I make sure the plastic bag is being used again, several times if possible, at home. And if there is paper bag, all the best..

Choosing two-sided printing can be an easy adjustment on your computer settings. How can you help others make this same switch? Can it be encouraged company wide?

    We already do encourage it!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Nature
What natural gifts are you grateful for?

I am grateful for my body and it's ability to move. Three days a week I choose to run during my lunch break and it's my time to get away and be alone in nature. I am grateful for my capable body that carries me in to nature.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste
Our ability to recycle certain things ebbs and flows based upon many factors. Luckily there are places that accept uncommon things to recycle or dispose of in a less harmful way. What did you find when looking for places to recycle items that can't be recycled in your curbside bin?

There is a recycling depot less than 5 miles from me, and though my curbside recycling will not take milk cartons (for example), the recycling depot will. I have asked my family to commit to cleaning and setting these aside to take once or twice a month.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food
What do you think contributes to people in North America eating more meat than in other places, and what does this say about North American values and ways of living? How do we start shifting a meat-focused food culture?

I believe it may have its origin in meat being a "food for the rich" and a "luxury" in the past. People would feel that they were "climbing the social ladder" by having access to meat more often.
