With the Eco Challange coming to an end I noticed one of my One-Time Challenges had not been done, so I completed immediately. I would never of done that otherwise. It has been a fun few weeks.
Your utility company is able to tell you your average energy usage. Ask them how your energy usage compares to others in your zipcode, and in your state. What other steps can you take each day to reduce your electricity usage?
I turn the thermostat down at night before bed, turn it up before my family gets up, and turn it back down when I leave for work. We also use lower watt and high energy efficient bulbs for lighting or during the fall/winter, I also like to add candles around the house for lighting/coziness.
How do your transportation choices affect your engagement in your community? Does your experience differ while walking, riding transit, biking or driving?
Riding my bike to work starts my day off on a positive vibe. Riding home helps me release any stress from the work day challenges. One less car on the road! Better for me and better for all!
I just want to remind all my fellow Water Bureau teammates that you can earn 15 points for each reflection question answered. And you can do that today even if you're just checking in for the first time ;-)
Walking through an area quite literally makes me feel more connected to that area - not in an abstract way, but in a "I have a reality experience to put with the line on the map" kind of way. I get a better sense of how the different streets and the land and paths in between them connect to each other.
I have been impressed by how much this simple practice of spending just a few minutes each day thinking about what I am genuinely grateful for/appreciate of has extended into other parts of my day and lifted my spirits. Even when I'm tired and feeling down, there are still things that I can think of that I appreciate. I've started extending this to my family by having each person say one thing that they're thankful for during dinner (when we all sit down together, which isn't every day).
