REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Exercise DailyHow can you incorporate other personal values (like quality time with friends or spending time in nature) into your exercise routine?
regina serrambana 10/22/2018 1:40 AMI can extend my daily shorter dog walks to include a nature walk through a nearby forest, making it quality time with the dogs instead of a rushed walk in the neighborhood. To get to the forest, we pass through adjacent farm land. During certain seasons, I get to see first hand that farmers are using sustainable practices, like spreading natural fertilizers, rotating different crops (some for replenishing the soil get plowed under instead of harvested) and growing well-distributed small patches of bee-friendly wildflowers or sunflowers. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Eat MindfullyMindful eating is healthier for us than eating with distractions. How do your eating experiences differ when practicing mindfulness?
regina serrambana 10/11/2018 12:22 PMhate to sound like a broken record, but, I can taste the food! Really taste it. Savor every bite and be thankful for every bite! I don't get indigestion or acid reflux because I tend to eat slower when not distracted/multi-tasking. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity MeditateWhat would you like to invest more time in reflecting on?
regina serrambana 10/10/2018 2:10 PMgratitude. In the middle of all that is happening in politics and world events, I'm still grateful to be where I am and live every day with so many luxuries people don't have elsewhere, like shelter and abundant food and clean water. Strip down to the basic things we take for granted, and there's always something to be grateful for. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Go for a Daily WalkFresh air and movement are good for our entire being and can help us think more clearly and creatively. How does taking a walk each day affect yourself and/or your work?
regina serrambana 10/10/2018 2:07 PMI definitely feel better when I've been able to walk and can focus more on tasks between interruptions. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Whole Foods DietMichael Pollan states that "it is better to pay the grocer (our edit: or the farmer!) than the doctor." What are your thoughts on this?
regina serrambana 10/10/2018 2:04 PMSimple unprocessed food tastes wonderful! You may forget how wonderful until you clear away all the sauces and garnish we tend to hide the true flavors with... Try just having a diced avocado in some broth, or steamed broccoli with nothing but a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil. Or cucumber slices just by themselves!-
Chrissy Bynum 10/10/2018 2:14 PMI have been on a sugar free no process food diet for over five months now and it's amazing how you truly can enjoy the wonderful taste of food and way more less garbage because process food has so much waste.
