Practicing gratitude helps me to recognize that despite all of the exploitation and selfishness that I come across in my job as a conservation biologist each day, beauty is still surrounds us. This gives me hope that everyone can find beauty around them and  connect in their own way with our planet. Making a connection is the first step. Once you connect and love something you will fight even your own unhealthy habits to protect it. So step outside, slow down and take a moment to find something beautiful!
