I leave my sipper here at work this way I never have to use a bottle when I am here. The only time I use a bottle water is on a trip if I forget my sipper.

Pam's actions
Waste
Reduce Single-Use Disposables
Historically, marginalized and low-income communities live closer to landfills, contributing to a multitude of health problems. I will find out how I can limit single-use items and do my best to limit the waste I generate.
Waste
Use a Reusable Water Bottle
I will keep 3 disposable plastic bottle(s) from entering the waste stream by using a reusable water bottle.
Waste
Use a Reusable Mug
I will avoid sending 3 disposable cup(s) to the landfill each day by using a reusable mug.
Waste
Recycle Everything I Can
Contamination prevents what is recyclable from being recycled. I will spend 10 minutes researching and recycling all materials that are accepted by local haulers or drop stations in my community.
Waste
Use Reusable Bags
I will not accept any disposable bags when making purchases.
Water
Insulate Water Pipes and Water Heater
I will avoid wasting water while waiting for the shower or sink to heat up.
Participant Feed

Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Use a Reusable Water BottleWhile water bottles serve an important role in places for health and safety, we can do more to reduce the unnecessary use of them. Can you identify the barriers in making this a new habit? How can you set yourself up for success in making this a permanent change?

Pam Chase 10/11/2018 8:17 AMLast night we had a conversation about recycling and my Grandsons taught me. We looked for stuff to recycle, it was kink of like a scavenger hunt. -
Pam Chase 10/05/2018 9:13 AMI even dug through the kitchen garbage to get a can that someone tossed out. It was not pretty!!!!-
Maranda Laws 10/05/2018 11:09 AMI do this almost every time I go into the kitchenette!! There is always something that can be recycled in there!

Pam Chase 10/04/2018 5:25 PMI had to leave my shopping cart in the store and go out and grab my bags, but I did it. -
Pam Chase 10/03/2018 8:36 AMTeaching the grandkids how to not waste and recycle. That puts pressure on all of us to be mindful of what we are throwing away. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Reduce Single-Use DisposablesBringing your own bags and containers to the grocery store, and even to restaurants for leftovers, are a couple of ways to reduce your waste. What single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?
Pam Chase 10/03/2018 8:25 AMI regularly bring my lunch bring my food in a container rather than a ziplock bag. I also reuse gallon plastic bags for marinating meat before throwing them out. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Use a Reusable MugMaybe you've heard how good it is to switch from a single use coffee cup to a reuseable one but it's just hard to make the switch. Think about what stands in your way of making this a habit. By identifying the challenges, you can begin to work through them to have better success in taking this action. Knowing the difference you are making, how does it make you feel?
Pam Chase 9/28/2018 2:08 PMI love using reusable mugs. I have several at my desk just in case I forget mine. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Recycle Everything I CanWhat have you learned about what is accepted by local haulers for recycling, what you can drop off or ship to certain places, and what is not recyclable in your area? What is the most difficult part of recycling for you?
Pam Chase 9/27/2018 1:23 PMI make myself use the shopping bags all the time. If I forget them in the car, I will go out to the car and get them, no excuses!
