BACK TO TEAM PAGE

Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.

To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Reduce Animal Products
What do you think contributes to people in North America eating more meat than in other places, and what does this say about North American values and ways of living? How do we start shifting a meat-focused food culture?

Industry leads culture through marketing. Alternatives to meat are difficult to find and socially less acceptable. The best appeal to shift these patterns is through appeals to self-interest rather than social good or social norming.

I'm now leaving my small kitchen appliances unplugged when not in use. That was easy. The tougher energy hog is the TV set up. Between the TV, router, Apple TV box, etc. it's alot of wires. Has anyone successfully found a smart plug to manage this and does the TV have to "reboot" every time you turn it back on? Thanks team!

We are down to the wire.  We all can do our part....start today!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Personal Waste Audit
Why is it so difficult to understand the impacts our purchases and waste have on other people, animals, and places? How might your experience with this challenge impact your future consumption and choices?

It's so difficult to understand the impact because we send our problems away! Out of sight, out of mind. I feel strongly that I would like to make the most minimal impact I can.

The weather is perfect for improving my local bus stop. My daughter and I will get out there before the end of the week.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

As a local community we will know what is in our food and what foods and how much is needed vs big corporations trying to drive the consumer to what they believe the consumer wants and needs. This mentally is not for the common good but to line the Big Corporations pockets.

I'm hoping I win one of the glass straws.  I haven't tried one yet.  I use metal straws and have been for a couple years now.  I also have a couple of silicone straws but no glass ones.  Does anyone out there use the glass straws?  Do you like them?  Do they break easily?
