  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Waste Use a Reusable Water Bottle
While water bottles serve an important role in places for health and safety, we can do more to reduce the unnecessary use of them. Can you identify the barriers in making this a new habit? How can you set yourself up for success in making this a permanent change?

I have always used a reusable coffee cup but had used the Styrofoam cups in Eisenberg for water. I bought and left a good reusable water bottle at the beginning of October. Made 2 trips over for ice and water and drank more water doing this.

    Food Whole Foods Diet
Michael Pollan states that "it is better to pay the grocer (our edit: or the farmer!) than the doctor." What are your thoughts on this?

I ate pretty clean before but paid extra attention to making sure I  ate particularly clean with very little waste.

I would like to invest more time reflecting on better use of my free time. My wireless internet has been down for the past 3 days, and it's actually been a great thing! I know I need to move more, spend more time on training the dogs, getting organized at home.... Many possibilities!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Simplicity Less Screen Time
What did you notice in implementing this challenge? Was it hard to choose other activities over screen time? How did you decide to spend your time?

Less screen time = more done around the house! But I miss the screen time.

through neighborhood associations, everyone has more access to a network, more opportunities to share information (receive information and express opinions on problems that matter to us), and thus it helps with more inclusive decision making.

Already the end of the challenge! I have started so many improvement projects and getting more involved in the community! let's all keep up the hard work!

    Energy Choose LED Bulbs
Changing lightbulbs is an excellent first step toward energy efficiency! In what other ways can you exercise your civic duty to protect the environment and reduce carbon emissions?

I think the least effort / biggest impact we can do to lower carbon emissions is to adjust the thermostat! Wear sweater in the house in winter, accept to be a little (reasonably) warm in summer... I do that in my house, but I wish businesses would do that as well. I often feel too cold inside stores / restaurants in summer, and too hot in winter...

    Community Volunteer in my Community
What is one thing you can do to help your community become more sustainable?

I think interactions between residents is key to create a sustainable community, as it increases our sense of safety and openness. Bringing people together through volunteer activities is a great start, as it helps connect people with different background and lifestyle.

I can't wait for next spring so I can plant some bee friendly plants/flowers, install a rain barrel and put mulch in my garden so I can lessen the amount of water I use!
