NVeco Feed

BACK TO TEAM PAGE

Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.

To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

Thank you, team!  With 49 team members, we made much more progress than last year and will continue to grow as a club and team next year.  Hope these tasks helped you change some habits.  Stay ECO!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Community Help Others
In your opinion, how do social inequalities diminish a strong sense of community?

Social inequalities prevent us from establishing a connection and compassion for others, because only a small margin of people are taking initiative to go associate, and integrate themselves with a community that has a standing in our world. It is difficult to have a directional sense of a strong community without affiliation to those who influence its culture.

The EcoChallenge is good for creating conscientiousness, and reflection on personal habits that affect the Earth.

SCARCE is a wonderful organization in Glen Ellyn that helps redistribute resources to teachers and community members who need supplies.  We look forward to supporting their efforts this year.

Today I went on a walk without my phone and it was great to have some time offline.

I made zero waste dinner. I had rice and beans that we got in bulk.

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Find Local Recycling Depots
Our ability to recycle certain things ebbs and flows based upon many factors. Luckily there are places that accept uncommon things to recycle or dispose of in a less harmful way. What did you find when looking for places to recycle items that can't be recycled in your curbside bin?

Most recycling facilities are not too far from where we live. One of the recycling facilities that I found has a 5 star rating and is only about 20 minutes from where I live. Collecting all of my recyclable items and going there every month does not seem like too much of a hassle.

Today, instead of making breakfast with zero waste products, I made lunch.
