I enjoyed this challenge! It motivated me to cook more at home, and to try more meatless meals. I liked having all these resources, learning about all kinds of organizations, and learning new things about food sovereignty. It was encouraging to see so many people working towards the same goal of overall sustainability. I wish I could've...

This challenge gave me optimism. Knowing caring people are out there in the thousands was a powerful boost to my own personal efforts. And I learned so much from the folks that read, researched, and reflected during these few weeks. Onward!

I considered myself an ECO pro before I started this challenge, but I learned so much and networked with several fantastic local and national organization I didn't know about. I already contacted a local food rescue group in my area that is mitigating a food desert less than 5 miles from where I live. Thanks for all the resources compiled for...

I can certainly vote for them when they are on the agenda. I could start improving bus stops in my neighborhood in order to draw attention to them and maybe get the local media to cover the story. This would at least help to build awareness. I can call/email/text my elected officials and request that we continue to pursue alternative...

I found a car mechanic shop that accepts used cooking oil.  They centrifuge it and use it to heat the building in the winter.  I wish more places would find resourceful ways to recycle.  It can be a big benefit, not just an obligation.

I enjoy becoming familiarity my local environment. It is neat to find a plant and watch it grow from week to week. I also enjoy learning about native species and what adaptations they have to give them an edge in their environment.  Finding something I can eat is fun!  I hope to pass this knowledge on to my children.

Thanks to Slow Food for making me aware of this program - I am already looking forward to participating next year, even to possibly recruiting a team!

Good! Purchase less to begin with, repurpose or buy second hand

We think protein is the most important thing in a meal. We value cheap meat, that fills up rather than quality. Beginning to add little steps, like one meatless meal, by encouring people to look at the health benefits.

It brings food back to the people. Local ownership of the food system was common in the past, but in the modern age our food is controlled by fewer maga corporations. It gives power back to the people, of something that is essential to life.
