Be mindful whenever using water to ensure using the lease amount possible. This can be done when brushing teeth, dishes (do not let the water run unnecessarily.) Also using the right size washer setting when doing loads of laundry.

    Water 5-Minute Showers
Five minute showers are an impressive step toward reducing your water footprint. What is the next step you can take?

I don't think I'm setting a good example when I do too much impulse spending with my kids. That's a good area to make changes and teach my kids about being more thoughtful about spending.

Be more thoughtful about what I bring into my home, to begin with...

I walked the dog this morning before the sun came up and saw star patterns that I learned about while in Girl Scouts as a child. I saw the constellation Orion.

    Health More Fruits and Veggies
What do you think contributes to people in North America eating more meat than any other places, and what does this say about North American values and ways of living? How can we start shifting from a meat-focused food culture to a more plant-based one?

Eating more fruits and vegetables is such an easy thing to do once you start regularly buying it to make it readily available.  I'm hoping this is something I can keep up long after the challenge.

    Waste Use Reusable Bags
What do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reuseable one with you? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to establish this a successful habit?

This position does not happen to me often. I really use reusable bags. I need to start to use them at more places due to I refuse to pay for a bag. (Yes I know at Kroger I'm paying for bags it just in the price of the food.) Place the reusable bags in your truck but a note in your phone with your grocery list to get bags. Yes, I have carry items in my hands to my car if I did not have a bag. Or I have taken the cart right to my car. Or I use the empty boxes in the store as things to carry my purchased items in. As a child my Mother would say "if there is a will there is a way". While is did not create this saying it means to me you have to want to change, help, donate, focus on others, and give. Think about what part you are playing in this sustainability process. Good Luck.

The non-profit I choose to support was March of Dimes. In the pass I use to go on there 26 mile long walks raised to $500. We walked from the foundation in  Heart Plaza to Tiger Stadium and then to Belle Isle and completely around it and back to Hart Plaza this took about 5 to 6 hours. Well now 30 years later I help in a different way. I volunteered  at their 2018 Signature Chefs Auction Event. I was in the Bottle for Babies Wine Caps booth where you donated funds for wine but you can only see the cap of the bottle. Our booth raised $2,000. There are many ways to support a worth charity. Choose one and be supportive.
